1.       Outline

The diagnostic software that is being used in the repair network for SCAN-100 must be regularly updated with its related new software in order to diagnose new car models or new systems.  Therefore "GMDAT Loader" has been developed to supply SCAN-100 programs smoothly to the repair network and this is provided within a CD-ROM or DVD to the scan tool user.

2.        GMDAT Loader Components

(1)   "GMDAT Loader" is produced as a complete package programme that contains several other applications for SCAN-100 communication.  All the software included is as follows:

(2)   iSPS (Interface Service Programming System): in order to reprogramme software of an electronic control unit (ECU), select the software for the related car by model or option which is stored at the iSPS database, then download onto the R-Card of SCAN-100.  This is the method for use on the C100 (WINSTORM, CAPTIVA) vehicle.

(3)   SL - SCANLOAD - this program enables the downloading of diagnostic programmes onto the D-card of SCAN-100.

(4)   KWPSend - in order to reprogramme software of an electronic control unit (ECU), this software is required to download programmes onto the R-card which is provided in accordance with car type or option separately to the service network.

(5)   DAP (Snapshot) - enables Snapshot Data to be downloaded to the PC.

(6)   SA - (Security Access) - During certain Scan 100 operations on the vehicle, security access maybe requested. This programme supplies the security access to the Scan 100.

6.       iSPS

(1)      Outline

Same as the C100 model, by direct making of the programming data (software, calibration and component option etc.) on each ECU’s database at production line, the ECU which is supplied to repair network for service also enables each Electronic Control Unit function when its related programming data should be input by reprogramming.  For this, Car product information, programming data according to car model/ system are saved in related "iSPS" folder, so it automatically perceives VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) then selects the latest data and downloads it onto the R-card of the Scan-100.

(2) Execution

Click the iSPS button on the "GMDAT Loader", or execute the shortcut icon iSPS on Start>> Program>>GMDSCAN>>iSPS.

(3)      iSPS Main Screen

The iSPS main screen displays information about the vehicle’s VIN and ECU software serial number by diagnosing with SCAN-100 and provides a search for the reprogramme data as well.

Figure 9  Main Screen

The main menu consists of the following sections: Vehicle Information, Read VIN, Download, and System.  The information on each part’s functions is given as follows:

A. Vehicle Information

-     ECU Type:

ECU type Selection or Display, the user can read from the SCAN-100 iSPS mode or can directly select the type.

-     Load Vehicle Information:

Read ECU types, VIN, and ECU part numbers stored in the SCAN-100 -> if reading is successful, the contents in the vehicle information is automatically updated.

Note: You should click Connect first, and then click Load Vehicle Information.  However, you can also go directly to the automatic connection to SCAN-100 by clicking Load Vehicle Information.

C. Programming Data Download

-     Normal mode:

This download mode is only used when the ECU types and VIN information on SCAN-100 are valid, or when the VIN information the user inputs are valid.  In this mode, iSPS automatically selects the data map and generates the file to download (recommended mode).

-     Manual mode:

This download mode is used only when the ECU types and VIN information on SCAN-100 is not valid, or when the auto mode cannot be used.  In this mode, the user selects the data map and generates the file to download.

D. System
